Although the Galaxy style pours are my ABSOLUTE favorite and I've created them quite a few times, I did try some new things with this pour. First, I tried a new pouring medium. I tried out the Sargent's Acrylic Gloss instead of my usual homemade glue-mix. I will say, the colours came out pretty vibrant, I do love the overall finished look of the paintings, but the cells didn't react quite the same as I've been used to with my glue mix. I found that the cells in the paintings using the Sargent's were easier to break. And it might have been because my overall mix was still too thick. The other thing I tried out was pouring white paint around my flip cup before I lifted it. I didn't put silicone in the white paint so though it might react more with the mix and I also thought it would help the other paint glide better across the canvas. This was an interesting experiment, one which I AM actually proud of the finished piece. To see it in person, there is SO much going on. My husband saw it and immediately said it looked like an entire Universe.
This one is called "The Universe". For this piece I used Sargents Acrylic Gloss pouring medium, 100% silicone oil in all colours except white, my torch, water, acrylic paint, on a 12x12" canvas.
